I've been programming for a while now, since I was a kid. I'm 28 now, so around 14 years of programming. Turbo Pascal was my first programming language followed by C++, then Java, learned Perl on the side, PHP and then Python. Somewhere in there I picked up Javascript.

There are things I do when coding or when I am on the job.

  • Write clean code that's easy to read and maintain. In the long run, better written code saves time and money for a company. And overall, it reduces headaches for programmers and business folks alike.

  • Don't repeat yourself (DRY) in the code.

  • Keep it simple. If other programmers, your peers, have trouble reading your code, then there's a problem.

  • Stay positive and team oriented. It's enough that a company has to deal with external conflicts, it should not have to battle within.
