comment How can I speed up a MySQL restore from a dump file?
I found two things: the key_buffer_size was set to 8MB and there was one InnoDB table in the mix with foreign keys. Increased the key_buffer_size to 1GB and temporarily turned off foreign key checks. The restore finished in 5 minutes. Thanks!

comment Munin-cron fails “Nothing to do”, possibly a munin.conf problem?
Are you running munin-cron as root or as the munin user (and have you run munin-cron as root in the past)?

This configuration works relatively well and the advantage is it can all be done within WHM interface. If you're having specific problems with SA open a new question and send me a message pointing to it.

I later found that the user had upgraded the system to IE8 immediately before this problem started. Reverting to IE7 didn't correct the problem however.

After your edit this is the correct answer

comment Make IIS6 not listen on one IP
This does not work. Even when specifying only one IP IIS makes port 80 on the other IPs unavailable to other applications.

Thanks! I added the public role on the master database to the user and then was able to set the permissions as above.

I get: "Msg 15151, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot find the user 'dforgac', because it does not exist or you do not have permission." I am logged in as a server administrator using Windows Authenticaiton so I should have permission. The username exists.

comment Is is possible to change the ntext size limit in SQL Server 2005?
It looks like they're using the text-in-row which is limited to 8000 bytes: msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms173530.aspx Working on convincing them to convert to nvarchar(max).

comment Is is possible to change the ntext size limit in SQL Server 2005?
I'm trying to help someone else with their server (I try to stay away from SQL server in general). They are reporting that data larger than 4000 characters is being truncated when inserted into a ntext field. Any idea why?

comment “host” command returning NXDOMAIN on a domain with nameservers
If you're looking to check for domain availability, WHOIS is your best bet (though not perfect because there can be some delay).

comment Apache uptime question
What are the specs of the server? Is this a physical server or a VPS/VM? I've seen this most often with resource issues, especially memory when running CF.

comment Configure a Local DNS Resolver That Only Caches for a Short Period
Well for this application I'm only making the server available to localhost so no one else is seeing the records with the lower TTL. I like using a TTL of 3600 on authoritative name servers to reduce the number of queries it gets but in this case I need to make sure I'm getting a fresh copy of the DNS. It beats lowering the TTL, making a change and testing it, and then setting the TTL back after testing.
