comment How can I speed up my Duplicity backup?
I think the problem is with both CPU and disks due to the fact that several VMs share these resources. Basically we have three hypervisors with a bunch of VMs on each, more or less busy. On each HV we have a node for the Percona MySQL cluster -these are the nodes for which I want to speed up backups. Disks are also not very fast from what I can see... but I need to ask the person who configured the HVs to know more details on the configuration. As for the network, when duplicity is running and volumes are copied I see a transfer rate of ~50MB/sec.

comment haproxy - pass original / remote ip in tcp mode
Hi, thanks a lot for your reply :) I am reading some stuff about 'tproxy' support, I guess this is what you meant? Also, I hadn't considered load balancing with keepalived directly for this. Does keepalived pass the original IP of the client?

comment Access a VPN through Hamachi
Hi, many thanks for the quick response. At work all is fine, they of course know what I do from home, no problem with that. I will likely ask our NA to set up a VPN access from my home computer, but I also want to see if what I described is possible, to learn as well. I have changed that setting on the work computer, restarted, but nothing has changed. Do I have to do something else on the work PC? Thanks!
