comment Security permissions for remote shared folders
@charnley: I do have admin-level access - I'm just not the individual responsible for the network setup, so I don't know exactly how it works. I have admin access to be able to do this sort of thing every now and then, but the main network administration is carried out by someone else.

I'm not entirely sure (I'm not the one who administrates the network). If I look at the current security principals in some random folders on C in each server, it has the form of SERVERNAME\USERNAME - I don't know if that's just the way it always is, or if it means both servers are in their own domains, where the domains are named after the servers.

comment Storing a million images in the filesystem
Well, you obviously don't have to create each folder, just because you're following this scheme. You could even have Year/Month/Day/Hour/Minute - decide how many levels of folders you need depending on how often the images are generated when the rate is the highest - and then just don't create folders that would be left empty.

comment “Unsolvable” bug in Visual Studio - how do I connect to SQL Server 2008 Express?
It's not so much developing against an x64 server as the fact that I paid for an x64 environment, and now I don't get to use it. I have, however, found the situation so bizarre that I decided it wasn't worth my time to figure out how to get that working. I uninstalled all of it and installed SQL Server 2005 Express. It's not what I wanted, but it works, and doesn't fire error messages on me. And lastly, no - I haven't yet.

I did (as I noted in the original post) have a couple of .NET and SQL related products installed, but none of them were CTP/Beta - except for the Web Platform Installer itself (but I don't see how that would affect VS...). The list in the original post is complete - that's exactly what I did.

Note: I asked this question on stackoverflow first, and was forwarded here. Now some more people has commented and said that it maybe fits better in there than here anyway... Well, I'll just hope any of you guys can solve it =)
