comment umask is being ignored on Gentoo while creating new files
Do you run mod_umask or PHP through suPhp or similiar? these modules are setting the umask.

comment Do I really need a 128GB pagefile
And you won't want to have your SQL Server down waiting for it to write a 128 GB memory dump. And analyzing a 128 GB memory will take a long time and even more space and memory.

comment Is blocking unresolved IP addresses a good idea?
Dont use fail2ban to block "unresolved" addresses, but to block clients which performs the website scraping you have seen.

comment What is right method to install phpMyAdmin?
If the whole subdomain is protected by proper authentication (NOT the database authentication) no bot can crawl this domain. Even if it is known.

comment What exactly is a Cloud Firewall?
Personally, i would not install a productive firewall in a virtual maschine, because an attacker could compromise not only the fw system but the host system too.

@sh-beta i dont think the provider will cut the power after exceeding the limit, but charging the power used above the limit.

+1 for the word on security, but i disagree with the "Don't break anything" part.

comment 'Table is full' error on table with 3 rows
Ok, i removed the restriction to 1G because the ibdata1 file has exactly the size of 1024M. But the restriction would affect the other innodb tables as well and not just this table, right? I already had innodb_file_per_table set (as suggested in the linked question), but i thought this is a per-database setting... Since the database is running now, i cant say whether this resolved the problem or not.

innodb_data_file_path ibdata1:10M:autoextend:max:1024M innodb_data_home_dir The /var/lib/mysql disk has > 10GB free. As i sad: it's the only affected table.

comment How to make nagios not class hosts that are down as an unhandled problem?
Tried disabling active checks, and collect these informations via passive checks? in combination with dynamic downtimes, this may do what you want.
