Changing netmask from /24 to /16 on a Windows 2003 domain /16 is just standard to me (refering to old CLASS B addresses). And yes all hosts are connected in the same network segment and they will continue to be. |

Changing netmask from /24 to /16 on a Windows 2003 domain My main concern is, if I change servers' masks from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.0.0 do you think everyone will still be able to communicate (as we have SQL server, Active directory, DNS) ? Also, I know what I need to change netmask on all computer, I just want to have time to do it, without having to shutdown the whole network. |

VLAN Trunk (Dell 6248 & SMC 8748M) I have corrected the line to switchport trunk allowed vlan add 1-3 but it is still not working. I don't mind not using VLAN 1 (default), I just want to be able to ping both switches... any other thoughts ? |

vLANs from Switch SMC 8748M to Dell PowerConnect 6248 I have checked both side vlan's id and everything fits.. I am also wondering if I should set my normal ports (not trunked ports) to tagged or untagged. Also, when everything is default (on vlan 1) it ping well, but as soon as I put 2 unit (1 on SMC's and 2nd on Dell's) on VLAN #2, they don't ping eachother. |
