comment Force Linux to reload passwords
Herein lies madness. Please use a proper central user database for this. Getting LDAP to run isn't too complicated and is (one) proper, supported way to do what you want to do. Even NIS is preferable to that solution.

comment CentOS upgrade openssh to 6.9
Yes, it will update to openssh-5.3p1-104 (or openssh-5.3p1-111 in the next few days). This is the newest version supplied by RedHat and CentOS for EL6, it contains the fix and is the version you want to run.

Really? That is what yum update is doing. Please learn the fundamentals....

comment CentOS upgrade openssh to 6.9
If you need to ask this question: Please stop what you are doing and only use the CentOS-supplied packages. They will contain all relevant security fixes.

comment QNAP NAS first-time synchronization + QPKG installation
It's not advisable at all to use a RAID5. Wanting to install this other crap makes it clear your use case is not professional, thus off-topic.

Please contact Google about this. We are not the Google helpdesk and can't help you. And yes, we are aware that as a non-paying customer, your request won't have high priority with Google, but we still can't help you.

@Solo: This community is for professional system administrators exclusively, deals only with practical technical problems you actually face and not with theoretical "I always wanted to know" questions.

comment How to configure 389ds LDAP for idle user timeout
This is entirely unclear. Do you want 389DS to kick your users from your server app? If yes: That doesn't make any sense and it's not an LDAP servers Job. Or do you want to lookup a user-specific timeout value from an LDAP record and use that in your app?

comment How to determine what is causing the server to go down
You say you would expect Monit to restart Apache, so my assumption is that Apache has a problem. The log file entries regarding Sendmail merely say it can't work because the system load is too high, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Sendmail itself has a problem or is causing that high load. Also, what does "crashing" mean anyway? Is the whole system halting? Does Apache stop to respond?

comment Video Streming server outbound bandwidth and providers
@Solo: To sum it up: You get someone who knows what he is talking about and they come up with a plan that makes sense for your specific scenario that also factors in things like future growth etc

This needs more detail, e.g. Apple dev documents describing this.

@Solo: Because networking equipment gets (kind of) exponentially more expensive with higher bandwith beyond 10Gb/s...

comment How to determine what is causing the server to go down
Why don't you look into the Apache log files? They are likely more helpful then the syslog if it's Apache that crashes.

@Amir: Then you should ask different questions on different sites. Also: We don't do product recommendations and saying "I followed this linked tutorial, but it didn't work - what did I did wrong?" is completely unacceptable as a question. Read the help center and How to ask better questions on Serverfault

comment Growing RAID0 to RAID5 sync delayed
Using a RAID5 with 4TB disks is an extremely bad idea. Use RAID6/10 instead to increase the resilience against failures.
