comment Forward Apache 500 status to 404
I'll have to read up on output filters as they seem a little complicated. For now we're re-doing the scan with just it still a 500 status, but replacing their error message with a generic one.

I haven't had luck actually changing the status code to a different one, but I think this should be enough for the scan by just having it display a very generic message.

I'm pretty sure our scan just flags any 500 pages it finds regardless of their content. I told them I think it's a false positive, but I'm not in charge of the scan.

@Shane It's configured in http.conf right after the modules are loaded. It's not in any subsection.

The RewriteLog has the successful rewrite from my internal attempt. There is not even a single entry from the external attempt. Also, here is the server's iptables -L output: pastebin.com/uF4mSeuh

This is actually the rule I had first. Same thing with this one. Works from inside but not outside. It makes it seem like some other setting is interfering.

comment Shutdown server in background using PHP
Thanks, I'm only doing this on a personal server for my roommates and I. I also am only allowing the Apache user to perform this one escalated command.
