comment What is Zend Server for?
A followup to my old answer: We're no longer using Zend Server. We found the rising cost as well as the yearly haggle about price annoying. Also, as we moved to more horizontal scaling it clashed with the host-based pricing model of ZS. We've found OSS tools like Varnish, Opcache, Xdebug, Memcached, Logstash more versatile and easier to maintain and automate (e.g. with Puppet). In short, our move to the cloud turned Zend Server into an obstacle rather than an asset.

Probably the best way to identify them, indeed. Would you happen to have any idea how to do that in NPS?

You've probably checked this already, but nothing to be found in /etc/my.cnf or /etc/mysql/conf.d or similar locations?

comment Puppet: How to skip restart during package upgrade until config is replaced?
@AaronCopley Purging Varnish 3 before installing 4 would probably work, but is hard to do in Puppet in a single run, since both package versions have the same name 'varnish' and would conflict. Usually in Puppet you describe the desired state, instead of the steps to get there. That doesn't work in this case.

I think that will fail on nodes that do not yet have Varnish installed. In that case the config directories don't exist yet, so Puppet cannot manage files inside them.

comment Incoming Mail MS Exchange On Dynamic DNS
So a basic netwerk connection appears to work. If you open a telnet connection from various machines to port 25 on exchange.sample.com, can a connection be established? Also, have a look at testconnectivity.microsoft.com, which is an online tool to perform various connectivity-tests.

There are many things that could be wrong. What have you ruled out/tried already?
