comment Placement of OS and SQL files
@TomTom Yes, like I mentioned - TempDB is highly situational.. Some databases nearly never touch it, others depend on it all day long.

comment Can I update Ubuntu with active users logged in?
Informative and nice answer, but I really don't get why anyone would run a dist-upgrade without rebooting the system. You're basically replacing everything in the base OS (including init and the kernel), why upgrade if you're not going to use it? Is it safe to wait until the next time you desperately need to reboot and land in a situation where the server might not boot up due to a incorrect upgrade?

That looks like something from the host where you're running the VDI clients on, not the RemoteApp Session Host..

comment Possibility of WAN Optimization for SSH traffic
If Riverbed can't compress/optimize it then nobody can. And if this MPLS, why not just implement a proper QoS policy on it to shape any kind of ssh/rsync traffic?

Changed the tags to be more specific. Also not an issue with Chrome.

comment NGINX: HTTP access not working from Chrome, only HTTPS
I'm a novice with nginx, but this seems a bit off. It looks like you're accepting connections to both http and https, and then just proxying it over to https. I doubt that you can re-encrypt traffic like this - shouldn't you be accepting http, rewriting it to https, and then proxy it over to http? You can't have two servers doing the SSL termination..

@TravisJackson That's not what he asked for. Use the Get-Vhd cmdlet in PowerShell.

comment off-site backup strategy for small local tower server
Anything shopping-like is not on topic here, but I just want to mention that the H310 does not have any kind of write cache whatsoever. Your performance will suffer greatly. I highly recommend an upgrade to the H710 adapter with NV cache.
