comment TMG 2010 does not proxy back to the same network as the request
I don't know TMG at all, but making a request that has to go back out the interface it came in on is prohibited by a lot of firewalls (PIX, ASA, Linux unless you disable reverse path filtering). I'd research reverse path filtering.

comment failing direct network connection in centos5
You could try and use mii-tool to configure them at a lower speed. It is possible the cable is going bad but 100/full might still work.

comment failing direct network connection in centos5
Does arp show the other machine on either box? What does tcpdumping the interface show when you try to ping? Do either boxes see any packets from the other machine? If tcpdump isn't seeing anything then there is probably a physical layer issue...

comment Inode tables shrinking sharply over time causing rsync/inode problems
This sounds like the behavior you would see when the 'tipping point' for an array was seen under heavy load. If the VFS cache is destroyed or the number of operations dramatically increases, etc. Can you gather more metrics about number of reads and writes/sec during the period and /proc/meminfo stats about cache buffers?

comment Security - Run apps with other users
Can you clarify why the sudo answer below didn't work? Are you having trouble figuring out how to use sudo? Is the question how to automate setting up sudo?

comment OpenVPN port-share with apache 443/10443 not working
Are you able to telnet x.x.x.x 10443? Can you include pcap/tcpdump output of the interface that x.x.x.x is on when openvpn attempts to connect? Does it just never get a SYN/ACK back? If you ufw disable does it work?

comment Can nTop process sFlow data to reveal source and destination to be reviewed visually?
I just keep the raw flow files around for 60-90 days if I need to look at them. I use flow-tools to look at them: splintered.net/sw/flow-tools

I'm not sure this question actually belongs on serverfault. Here is an identical one on stackoverflow: stackoverflow.com/questions/6243276/…

comment Can nTop process sFlow data to reveal source and destination to be reviewed visually?
It isn't really clear, are you trying to find if nTop can do this and are going to give up if you can't? Or do you just want rrd's of flows? Which this does, and its what I use caida.org/tools/utilities/flowscan

comment What is the best way to compare the performance of different servers?
Rerunning production logs against a test environment with identical data is the best way. Upvoted for truth.

Thats a configuration problem most likely (it isn't by design).

comment Weird Extended Information on Nagios Web UI
Can you strace -f? I don't see the execution of status.cgi in the strace output, and its odd that in the extinfo.cgi something appears to abort/terminate extinfo.cgi. Have you checked syslog or dmesg for errors?
