Actually using nagios already but its for our applications, our application will request a healthy and less busy database server and that service will return it, so need more detailed measures.

They dont suggest yo use mysql_proxy on production server, my code will return a hostname from array basicly, wont be forward any queries. I am hoping to improve dns resolition errors and abit more detailed load balancing and also some failover features.

Actually because of AWS dont have that kind of choice because they are giving a hostname and they dont promise that ip will stay same, so it changes, may make a local cache to update them but then it must fail as well. since it need to check it every second or maybe less than second. adding netstat -s output from an appSrv, it seems ok to me
