comment GELI / ELI at FreeBSD - changing passphrase
Thank you, that's it. Tested, and it works -- at least for me in this test-instance.

comment GELI / ELI at FreeBSD - changing passphrase
Hmmmm, I hope there's another answer out there, because that's rather timeconsuming with big volumes. But thanks anyway.

comment ZFS - setting physical disk start point of pool/filesystem
Yes, thank you. Once I understood that zfs accepts block devices other than just entire disks, it opened up a lot more flexibility to me :-)

comment ZFS - setting physical disk start point of pool/filesystem
Ah, so I create disk slices in the OS first, and then a ZFS using these slices? I thought ZFS pools had to be placed on top of entire disks.

comment FreeBSD vinum striped (RAID0) volume - performance issues
Thanks a lot! gstat is a useful tool I didn't know about. I found that ad26+ad28 performs fast in a 2-disk striped volume. About 120MB/s write and 80-90 MB/s read (strange with write>read?). In that setup ad26 is 20% busy, ad28 30%; according to gstat. I suppose this is because of the controller; 3 vs 6 Gb/s. I'll experiment further with single disks and test the controllers...
