Thanks. I've written a new script for the shutdown that uses WMI and Opsys.Win32Shutdown(1) which works on the 1 server (non-iLO) that I can shut down without being imvited to enhance my CV with added employer diversity ;-)

As per my comments on John's answer I think the shutdown has to be at the OS level. Just to keep me on my toes the server doesn't have an OS installed.

Thanks. I since found an unused iLO board waiting to be commisioned and that seems to be part of the problem. I can see the virtual power light going off but I think you're right and I need to do the shutdown via windows shutdown. Been on holiday a week so I'll try this Monday.
