comment PCI RAID Controller Card bandwith for a RAID1 array of SATA III drives
For some dumb reason, I forgot to take in account the throughput of a HDD drive... well below 600MB/s.

@Daniel "In a generalized and well maintained environment", you're talking about a company with pre-built images. This is not the case. If this was a Linux, I'ld already have reinstalled it. But Windows is just a pain for reinstalling software, restoring preferences and all the likes. Let's say I keep my AppLocal and HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Who's to say that the problem isn't located in either that folder or that registry key?

Reinstalling Windows is the last thing I would want to do. Reinstalling any OS is usually last resort only.

I totally agree with the "Better to do it right the first time", so I'm taking your advice and going along with it.

comment e2fsck / resize2fs problems
By memory, I've first created the RAID5 from /dev/sd[cdefgh]1 (Linux Raid Autodetect). Then I pvcreate'd and vgcreate'd on /dev/md0: pvscan: PV /dev/md0 VG vg03 lvm2 [6.82 TiB / 0 free] Total: 1 [6.82 TiB] / in use: 1 [6.82 TiB] / in no VG: 0 [0 ]| Finally I mke2fs the ext3, probably with either option "largefile" or "largefile4" to lower the inode ratio.
