Learn About Me!

I solve problems with Linux and Windows servers, wired and wireless networks, storage of all types, and insert_buzzword(); These days I find myself solving problems using MongoDB, ElasticSearch, and other data stores.

comment Add custom NAT rule to Plesk managed firewall
@silent That would be a separate question, and probably not one that ServerFault as a culture would smile on. It's a general concept that would involve basic scripting skills to pipe iptables -L output into a loop to find what you want and confirm or deny its existence and then do something based on what the loop finds.

I don't know how anyone could possibly answer this. You haven't explained what software you're using, which is the biggest key to this. The message "unknown" isn't magic, it was programmed by someone as a response to a certain result of application logic. What one program says is "unknown" would be what another program would refer to in different terms. Some answers are needed to questions like what are you using? What are you doing? How are you doing it?

@user3842869 Yes, it worked as per my test of dig and going to www.lastroarte.com. just now. You didn't wait long enough for DNS to change on your local PC and probably have cached responses.

@user3842869 So you need to add a CNAME. In the "Enter Name" section put www and in the hostname section put lastroarte.com.

@user3842869 Yeah, you don't have any record in DNS for www, so nothing will return for anyway. I'm not getting your website when I go to www.lastroarte.com, but do when I go to lastroarte.com.

comment How to use fsyncLock() safely in backing up a single mongod
@LukeNguyen It is not a risk to dump without a lock, mongodump was designed for that. MongoDB Inc explicitly states in their documentation: Do not use mongodump with db.fsyncLock(). Furthermore, you can use the --oplog option with mongodump to write the operations that came in while mongodump was running. You will then need to use the --oplog flag when restoring with mongorestore. Really though, you should make a replica set for this for zero-downtime, zero side effect backups.
