Hire Me!

As of December 2013, I am looking to depart from my self-owned consultancy and go to work at an exciting, growing business that has truckloads of fun problems to solve.

Learn About Me!

I'm a generalist Systems Administrator. I design and implement systems that rely on Linux and Windows servers, wired and wireless networks, storage of all types, and insert_buzzword(); I like Chef and Ruby, but long walks on the beach get sand in my shoes and that's not okay.

My Gravatar is from Troy Snow's photography. Check him out at his Flickr page and tell him I sent you: http://www.flickr.com/photos/troysnow/ . Even though we tend to use the same goofy kitten face as an avatar, we are not the same person and have no affiliation. Other than good taste in avatars, anyway.

@JohnThePro Oh, and don't be discouraged. Everyone gets downvotes. No downvotes means one of two things: 1) You're not trying, 2) You're Evan Anderson.

@JohnThePro Not anger, just using ServerFault as it was meant to be used. I was the one who downvoted you. A downvote isn't a personal attack necessarily, although I think some people use it that way. It's just a way of signifying to present and future viewers "Hey, this answer isn't quite right". At least, that's how I use downvotes.

comment How do I package this vbscript as a msi for Group Policy
@TheCleaner Hmmm... That's beginning to be out of my league. I know there are other VBS to EXE tools out there, but most are for-pay. For example: abyssmedia.com/scriptcryptor and scriptcode.com - Then there's this crazy thing for which I have no idea if it really works: vbs2exe.com

Also, if you rename the tasks in the Windows\tasks folder, the task disappears in Task Scheduler until you rename the task back.

comment Auditing bandwidth of remote sites
Those "SpeedTest.net" type sites don't really give the type of information that an admin needs for thorough investigation. Border monitoring FTW!
