ICMP is disabled in Azure, so ping isn't a good troubleshooting tool.

@Bunkai.Satori If you knew what you were doing, you wouldn't be doing this in the first place.

comment Server destroying and burning my Hard Drives
@Bunkai.Satori There is no professional solution with the constraints you've imposed. It's like asking for a Ferrari, but demanding it's made out of straw and dead cats.

comment Is there a way to find out why MySQL crashed or quit working?
@jasondavis You probably won't want to be writing a shell script for this kind of thing. That's last millennium, and prone to breaking very quickly with any change in OS and package versions. You'll want to look into something like Chef or Puppet, and since you have a focus on coding, you'll fit right in to that kind of thing. TL;DR Don't make bash build scripts, use config management like Chef or Puppet.

I am not a beginner. A beginner won't ask questions like this! A beginner will think that a beginner won't ask questions like this.

comment Is there any standard for DNS <-> IP authentication?
@mihai All good. Sorry for the teasing. We get a bit rough here, which isn't an excuse, but I think we mostly mean well. Stick around. And go ahead and try to build out what you're thinking. Nothing like dirty hands to teach a subject. =)

comment Is it generally a bad idea to run MongoDB and ElasticSerach on the same nodes
@JamesWahlin Definitely something to consider. The hosts I work with have 100,000+ IOPS r/w sustained, so it simplifies architecture with brute force power, but isn't exactly clever. =)

Tell you what @mihai, you make this as an open source project and see what the infosec community at large says about the concept.

But this is almost certainly the wrong solution to the actual problem you're trying to solve. Allowing the word "almost" in that sentence was very polite of you. =)
