I solve problems with Linux and Windows servers, wired and wireless networks, storage of all types, and insert_buzzword(); These days I find myself solving problems using MongoDB, ElasticSearch, and other data stores.

This question is being voted for closure because it prominently involves software or hardware that is designed for or being used in a home scenario and may itself be causing the problem, or actively hindering a repeatable and consistent solution.

comment How to have ntpd serve only my local subnet
@ndemou Thanks, looks good. This turned from an NTP question to an iptables question, so I was debating wether to suggest making a new question, but this works best.

Doh! I made the rule on the fly in my head so didn't check completely syntax. Specifics are left as an exercise for the reader. :P

@ndemou It won't block the pool from talking to the host because established connections aren't blocked and the pool doesn't initiate the connection, your host does.

@LieRyan You can, you just shouldn't. =)

comment Hardware requirements for an Elearning website with 1000 simultaneous users
You really need to get with a consultant on this as there is far more thought that has to go into capacity planning than can be gone into on a simple Q/A site. There are plenty of folks here who can help with this, myself being just one of them. Check my profile for contact info if you're interested.

What kind of router is it? Cisco 5510? Juniper ACX series? (Note, this question is a test.)

Do you have control over that recursive resolver? Is it your ISP's?

comment Add custom NAT rule to Plesk managed firewall
@silent That would be a separate question, and probably not one that ServerFault as a culture would smile on. It's a general concept that would involve basic scripting skills to pipe iptables -L output into a loop to find what you want and confirm or deny its existence and then do something based on what the loop finds.

comment What does unknown connection state mean
I don't know how anyone could possibly answer this. You haven't explained what software you're using, which is the biggest key to this. The message "unknown" isn't magic, it was programmed by someone as a response to a certain result of application logic. What one program says is "unknown" would be what another program would refer to in different terms. Some answers are needed to questions like what are you using? What are you doing? How are you doing it?

comment DigitalOcean DNS or my computer returning ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED for my website domain
@user3842869 Yes, it worked as per my test of dig and going to www.lastroarte.com. just now. You didn't wait long enough for DNS to change on your local PC and probably have cached responses.

comment DigitalOcean DNS or my computer returning ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED for my website domain
@user3842869 So you need to add a CNAME. In the "Enter Name" section put www and in the hostname section put lastroarte.com.

comment DigitalOcean DNS or my computer returning ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED for my website domain
@user3842869 Yeah, you don't have any record in DNS for www, so nothing will return for anyway. I'm not getting your website when I go to www.lastroarte.com, but do when I go to lastroarte.com.
