comment iptables mark is not persisting after MASQUERADING
I am confused, why would you think that it would show up there. If a packet has gotten to your MASQ rule, then it is already in the POSTROUTING phase. POSTROUTING is one of the last chance that get processed before a packet is given to the interface for transmission. Why do you think it would then be visible in the PREROUTING chain again?

comment Does rsyslogd send new information or the entire log file upon restart
Is your $InputFileStateFile getting updated properly? I have never used this functionality before. But my reading of the docs rsyslog.com/doc/v8-stable/configuration/modules/imfile.html seems to suggest that it will read it all once, then save the state, and then always continue from the last processed point. But if your state file isn't being saved/created properly, then it would probably be resending everything at each restart.

comment Using get-wsuscomputer with -ComputerUpdateStatus
@kekimian Like I said above there doesn't appear to be any property in the returned object as seen by get-wsuscomputer | Get-Member that I would be able to use in a where-object.

comment Using get-wsuscomputer with -ComputerUpdateStatus
@kekimian I have seen that article, and I will probably go with the method described it. It just seems needlessly complex. I believe it also also predates the inclusion of the WSUS powershell commands. So I was hoping the get-wsuscomputer would be all I need.

@kekimian not sure what I am supposed to be looking at on that page. It seems to be about adding help to a command? Did you paste the correct link?

comment Using get-wsuscomputer with -ComputerUpdateStatus
@Colyn1337 as far as I can tell there are no properties about the needed/failed/installed updates that are returned from the command.

comment Powershell Remoting security implications by adding users to WinRMRemoteWMIUsers
Since you can RDP to those servers don't you have enough privileges to setup a scheduled tasks that would periodically check the service status, then send some kind of alert on a failure?
