comment How to return 410 with lighttpd
@Stefan Well, from docs: "While the lua language the mod_magnet uses is very powerful, mod_magnet is not meant to be a general replacement for your regular scripting environment. This is because mod_magnet is executed in the core of Lighty and EVERY long-running operation is blocking ALL connections in the server. You are warned." . But true, I have not tested this so I am probably worried needlessly.

Nope, it delegates backends to other servers through fcgi.

I don't have any dynamic handlers on this server, but otherwise it's fine hack.

I am not, but we have no replacements for those modules ;) We are memcaching extensively, but the separation requirements came from our OPs. Thanks for suggestions, will think about them.

Well, we must use apache because of some modules that are doing on-fly page rewrites. You are suggesting to just ProxyPass in apache or to put balancer in front of them?

We would like to separate usage of webserver vs. appserver, and also put webservers into DMZ.
