Have you tried to add server's IP to DNS Whitelist (dnswl.org)?

comment Show Ubuntu server IP Addresses
Pool of addresses assigned to you by ISP and pool of addresses configured on the server don't have to be the same. On the server you can use for example only one of them (or more...).

@NixMan: They won't have exactly the same size. Just look at the manual: "Log files are rotated when they grow bigger than size bytes. [...]"

comment How to access running application's internal CLI?
Maybe using FIFO-s will be a solution? mkfifo /tmp/fifo-in; mkfifo /tmp/fifo-out; your-java-app < /tmp/fifo-in > /tmp/fifo-out. Then write commands to /tmp/fifo-in and read output from /tmp/fifo-out.

comment Customer site is out of IP addresses, they want to go from /24 to /12 netmask… Bad idea?
Stealing gateway's IP address could disconnect that network from other networks (and Internet). I had such problems in my networks and that's one of the reasons why I'm putting users, guest, server, etc. in separate VLAN-s. Other reasons (security, ARP, etc.) are mentioned in other comments.

comment error messages when enabling /server-status on Centos with Apache version httpd-2.2.3-31
Try adding ServerAlias localhost to this VirtualHost declaration. Try lynx http://myserver.com/server-status. Try temporary disabling mod_rewrite. As @Epaphus suggested try moving server-status declaration outside VirtualHost. Do you have any other VirtualHosts configured?

Maybe there is something wrong with VirtualHosts' configuration. It's hard to say without looking at full dump of Apache configuration. Did you restart Apache? Is there anything in ErrorLog?

comment How to (hardware) RAID 10 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with 4 drives and motherboard with RAID contoller
@lollercoaster: Maybe it's not the true hardware RAID but software RAID and it needs software drivers in the operating system to work correctly. I would turn off RAID controller in BIOS and use Ubuntu native RAID creator.

comment What is the difference between nagios xi and cacti for monitoring?
IMO Cacti is better for graphing network interfaces usage than Nagios. If you have a lot of switches then adding all the network interfaces to Nagios is problematic. I'm using Cacti mostly for graphing network interface usage and Nagios for almost everything else (servers, services, etc.).

Please provide output of: cat /etc/apache2/ports.conf; for i in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/*; do echo "=== $i ==="; cat "$i"; done. What is the result of DNS query for the domain in question using external DNS? What do you add to /etc/hosts?
