Software Engineer, professionally - I work face-to-face with clients on a variety of software technologies (.NET, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, Python, etc). The technology supports positive customer service experiences.

In addition, I have a particular affinity for open source software. I study it to learn and make contributions when possible.

comment CentOS6 - Apache2 working but when installing / enabling SSL, server won't start because of permissions error
Christopher -- apparently that was it, in a way. I want to give you credit for the answer. Could you write something along the lines of using the restorecon piece? When you posted that, I recalled that there were directions to run restorecon -RvF /etc/pki. I ran this as a precaution and now the server starts.

comment cron job executing every minute but should be setup to execute every 4 hours
Thank you. This seems to fix my every-minute issue... Still getting the error when trying to restart but for now that doesn't matter. :-) Thanks again,

comment Backing up a Linux VPS with RSync to Vista
So, here is where I'm stuck with your solution. I need to use rsync over ssh to ensure my data is secure. rsync supports this, but apparently rsync doesn't have (or has limited) support to do this. According to this article, aboutmyip.com/AboutMyXApp/DisplayFAQ.do?fid=1, ssh from windows -> Linux works, but not vice versa. If you know of a resource that would help, I'd greatly appreciate it. That particular faq is bringing me back to cygwin...

comment Distinction between Cloud Servers and VPS
So, your post almost sounds like a VPS might be a good solution to seed a cloud instance. And then when I consider the information you give with the information that gravyface gives, use the "cloud" instance to handle sudden spikes in traffic.... Something my VPS (which is what I have, now) wouldn't be able to reasonably handle...
