I'm currently a developer doing "enterprisey" Perl for a web services company. Not too shabby for a tortoiseshell tabby!

Lately my best friend is: Module::Metadata.

(Previous favourites include Web::Simple Plack::Request, Dist::Zilla, Sub::Exporter, Class::MOP and Test::Fatal.)

When I'm bored I try to climb (and fall) up mountains, paddle kayaks and tour with my motorcycle. I was recently caught on camera by Google Streetview!

I can often be found at irc.perl.org #moose.

I'm 5th on Stack Overflow in the perl tag.

I used to be 20th on Meta Stack Overflow; nowadays the user list is so hard to read I can't tell my ranking.

comment How can I specify multiple rules for a particular log file(s) with logrotate?
wildcards can't do exclusions - there is no way to say "everything but this one file".

comment How can I specify multiple rules for a particular log file(s) with logrotate?
The problem is the same as if I had the override in a single file (which is legal): if I have an override, I can't then use a wildcard for the rest of the files in that directory, without the error that I quoted in the question. If I am wrong, please provide a working example?

comment Unix shell: easy way to get IP from hostname
@Albert: well to be fair: 1. the question was posted on SO originally and migrated to SF, and 2. the type of data you're looking for needs to be parsed with something; some people consider Perl a better form of shell script :D

comment How do I configure OS X's built-in Apache server to use FastCGI?
I strongly recommend leaving the system Perl alone and installing a new perl (Macports has bundles for 5.8.9, 5.10.1 and 5.12.1, or you can always build your own from source) to use with FastCGI. Subsequent updates from Apple could tread on your system Perl install, and (I speak from experience) it can all end in tears. It's much better to perform your customizations on a separate build that you control (and if you screw up something, you can always wipe it all and start over without fear).

What sort of symbols are they? Are they all in the 0x00-0x7F range??

comment Are Git or SVN coming with a memory footprint?
Currently most svn questions are on SO, not SF, so I'd consider this relevant.
