comment Raid 1 and Latency
Then it entirely depends on the settings of the controller and the amount of data. The worst case is still going to be the latency of the slowest drive.

comment What's a secure alternative to using a MySQL password on the command line?
Sure it does. man ps has -E Display the environment as well. From the url I linked to: This method of specifying your MySQL password must be considered extremely insecure and should not be used. Some versions of ps include an option to display the environment of running processes. On some systems, if you set MYSQL_PWD, your password is exposed to any other user who runs ps. Even on systems without such a version of ps, it is unwise to assume that there are no other methods by which users can examine process environments.

comment A system for distributing SSH public keys
Ansible is a very lightweight CM system that has a module to muck with authorized key files over ssh. See ansible.cc/docs/modules.html#authorized-key

He mentioned that after a reboot the space stays the same, so it's unlikely to be deleted files

Did you possibly run out of disk space (temporary files/tables won't show up after a reboot)?

comment tell tcpdump to not include the port numbers in the output
Sorry, this required GNU's awk (gawk). If you install that package and use gawk instead of awk in the command line, it works as expected
