I just noticed that named is eating vast amounts of CPU time for a very small network with only a few domains. Can someone help me determine what is misconfigured, please? Or how to debug this.

    Maybe your named.conf is missing a vital line like managed-keys-directory "/var/named/dynamic"; Are there any named-related errors in dmesg output? Nov 15, 2012 at 0:53
  • Missing the all important 'key-directory "/path/to/dnssec/keys";' line. Thanks!

  • 9.8.2, I believe. As I commented above the problem was an ID10T error. Some moron (me) forgot to let named know where to find its dnssec keys. :( Thanks, though

@DavidSchwartz had it right:

Missing the all important key-directory "/path/to/dnssec/keys"; line. - Me
