I have problem with Ubuntu Server 18.04.4 on Virtual Box. I have one Network adapter enabled: Bridged Adapter. When I type ifconfig in Ubuntu Server only this is showing and I need IP address for apache2 service. Output from ip link:

1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000 link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00

2: enp0s3: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000 link/ether 08:00:27:cf:fb:3b brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

3: enp0s8: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000 link/ether 08:00:27:53:83:e4 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

try ip link instead – A.B May 22 at 21:33
  • there is no ip to use – TracerYT May 23 at 7:59
  • Can you still run ip link (which isn't about IP addresses despite the name, but about interfaces), and add its output in the question, as text (not as screenshot)? – A.B May 23 at 9:35
  • Okay, its edited – TracerYT May 25 at 7:46
  • This system has 3 ethernet interfaces. But I thought it was about a VM. Usually the MAC addresses would be different when from a VM. Anyway, you're supposed to assign an IP address from your real network, either manually or using DHCP. If you don't know what IP address to use, ask your network colleague. – A.B May 25 at 8:49
