I am trying to set up a KVM Based solution, I am having trouble configuring the NICs for the VMs from a bridge based on a VLAN interface.

My config below :

ETH0 : KVM Host Management : 192.168.126.27 Netmask /25 - 255.255.255.128 Gateway – 192.168.126.126

ETH1 : KVM Guests Management : VLAN Trunck - trunck ID 305

Guest IP : 172.21.107.126 Netmask /28 - 255.255.255.240 Gateway – 172.21.107.113

ETH2 : connected to a router to be used as an internet GW by the Guest VM ETH3 : connected to a router to be used as an internet GW by HOST

ISSUE :

ssh connection to ETH0 works fine, but connection to Guest VM does not go through! I am not sure if i am missing any route configuration, or Iptables rules ??

PS : from VM : i am able to ping the defined GW 172.21.107.113

Kindly advise if am missing any configuration.

Below My config :

On Host :

  • have you tried adding IPs to the bridges?

  • I have more than one VM using the Bridge, I can not put only one IP for the Bridge. As i know we can not have several bridges for one NIC right ?

  • A VM's IP is set in the VM. The IP you set on a bridge, will be the IP the host will have.

may sound silly but, did check you have a route to 172.21.107.112/28 on your ssh client?

  • No silly :) the thing, that is a probable cause also. and in that case it's more an external firewall issue for me. I wanted first to make sure my config is OK then troublshoot the Firewall in between.

  • looks all right to me if the client has the propervroutes

Issue fixed, config is right. I had a Firewall issue in between and that was the root cause.
