I have a Parse server running on a server that uses SSL. When I try do access Parse from a browser over HTTPS it always fails and I'm not seeing any errors in the network trace in the browser. If I use a cURL command without https it works OK:

curl -X GET -H "X-Parse-Application-Id: kjkdjskjkkjkkdjs" -H "X-Parse-REST-API-Key: jkdsiijdksjkls" http://example.com:1337/parse/users

If I run the same cURL command with HTTPS though I see the error:

Unknown SSL protocol error in connection to example.com:1337

Regular browsing to the website using HTTPS works OK.

  • You aren't running https on that port, of course. – Michael Hampton Sep 24 '16 at 19:07
  • When i start up the server i pass in the https with port: parse-server --serverURL localhost:1337/parse – Roger Floydman Sep 24 '16 at 19:17
  • Then why is it that you are able to connect to it only with http? – Michael Hampton Sep 24 '16 at 19:27

It is a basic fact of Apache configuration that the same server instance (virtual host or global) running on a particular port cannot talk both HTTP and HTTPS. If you think this is happening then I'm afraid you are mistaken. You need to give us more detail. – Unbeliever Sep 24 '16 at 19:42
