I have a HP Proliant ML350 G5, Smart Array E200i controller, with the following configuration:

  • SATA Array A: RAID 1 with 2 x 160GB disks + 1 x attached spare disk of the same size.
  • SATA Array B: RAID 5 with 3 x 160GB disks.

The problem: Array A is compromised as currently it has both raid disks failed, and it only keeps running on the single spare.

The question: I've replaced one of the failed disks with an identical new one (hot-plug, without shutting down or restarting), but the rebuild proccess doesn't start. Is it possible to rebuild from a spare disk in such a case like this?

Thank you!
