I'm working with cleaning up in our Active driectory after we have moved over to use Microsoft cloud in our company. My job is to go through all the groups in our ou's on the Active directory server and make sure that the "managed by" is up to date. In this case, all managers of the group are added in the cloud under "Access to folders & Sites" as approver, but they are not in the managed by tab in Active Directory on the server, after going through all getting the data with PowerShell script none of the groups have any user added as managed by.

Its a big job, going through 181 groups one by one, adding the approver to the managed by tab manually.

I'm trying to figure out if there is some way of getting a report output from the Microsoft cloud with the display name and approver of every group? And then if there is a way, or a powershell script command to update the Active Directory on our server with the information, so I can make this an automated job and not manually. Since after this cleanup I have more than 100 costumers to do the same clean up job with.

Thank you for any ideas or help!

  • Are you not using AzureAD sync? It is possible to do what you're saying, but it sounds like you were expecting this to have happened automagically. – john Jul 30 '18 at 14:41
