I am using a classic LAMP (Ubuntu 18.04) in a VirtualBox (5.2.18). The disk has a Dynamically allocated storage.

Each time I restore the tables using this command, the disk size of the virtual machine keeps increasing:

zcat /media/sf_database/*.gz | mysql -h localhost "my_project"

How can I do to avoid this constant size increase? (different command or adding a clean up somewhere)

  • How much does it increase? SELECT @@INNODB_FILE_PER_TABLE; SELECT @@LOG_BIN; – Michael - sqlbot Aug 18 '18 at 23:05
