I have an application that is bound to a socket which is used only for publishing some data to other applications on the receiving end. I am looking for scenarios for denial of service attacks on such systems.

I have some idea that the applications who are listening for the data may well be susceptible to application level flood attack (provided there are minimum security controls in the system and at the application level) but I can't think of a scenario where an application that is used only for sending data to kneel under application level flood attack.

For example, Can I overwhelm an application bound to a Write-only socket so that it stops sending data?

Any help would be appreciated.
