Very simple environment:

  • one cluster made of two ESXi 6.5 hosts
  • vCenter 6.5

I create one Linux Debian VM, VMWare tools are installed. When I run the VM, everything seems fine. When I enable Fault Tolerance on this VM, the VM seems running fine, but vCenter triggers "virtual machine memory usage" alarm, and memory utilization of VM goes up to 100% (4GB) despite Linux top or free give the expected real current utilization (1GB). If I just turn off FT on this VM, the memory utilization drop down to 200MB (which is even lower than utilization stated in top or free).

What does this represent and how to fix the alarm?
