Calculate folder size without counting links
Won't something like this work for you?
(Get-ChildItem -Recurse 'node_modules' |
? { $_.LinkType -eq $Null } |
Measure-Object -Sum Length).Sum
$_.LinkType -eq $Null filters out all link types.
